Employment Services

CANSEF’s Career Assessment and Planning Services counsel individuals who have been unable to link their skills and career interests to meaningful employment by providing one-on-one career advice, access to self-assessment tools and labour market information to help target potential jobs.

CANSEF has extensive expertise and experience in operating successful employment programs aimed specifically at assisting internationally trained individuals to obtain meaningful employment. CANSEF’s Employment Programs for Newcomers and Internationally Trained Individuals address the unique needs of newcomers to Canada by supporting them in seeking employment in their chosen profession or trade. As newcomers come to Canada, they bring with them new ideas, energy, skills, resources, and a strong desire to succeed and contribute to their new country. In order to contribute, they must first be given the opportunity to develop the tools needed to secure employment in their new country.

CANSEF’s five Employment Service Centres provide close-at-hand locations with all the information and tools to assist you with a successful job search. Job seekers can work on their own using up-to-date technology and resources, attend seminars and seek information and support from helpful and knowledgeable staff. Our staff can also help you obtain more individualized counselling services, register you in our On-Line Services courses and workshops and make referrals to other non-employment services. Visitors to our Employment Service Centres also gain support in maintaining their personal motivation and focus during periods of unemployment through networking and speaker events as well as job fairs. CANSEF’s Employment Resource Centres are conveniently located across the Greater Toronto Area and contain a wealth of the latest information in local labour market and job search techniques for all job seekers, from entry level to experienced workers.

Hiring the right people is critical to the success of any business. That’s where we come in – connecting employers to skilled and motivated candidates looking for work. CANSEF’s professional staff take the time to understand each employer’s unique staffing needs, identify the best candidate to meet those needs, and monitor the placement on an ongoing basis to ensure satisfaction.

CANSEF has been working with refugees to help them find work for over 20 years. We assist them in creating a resume; filling out job applications and employer forms, helping prepare for job interviews, explaining employer expectations; and telling them about available apprenticeship opportunities.

Many people find it difficult to travel from home or their workplace to an employment service location, others simply want to refresh their understanding of job search techniques, labour market information or occupational access requirements. On-line enrollment in CANSEF’s general job search tools workshops, employment strategies for newcomer professional or our virtual library of essential websites, helps individuals access servcies – all from the convenience of the Internet. Once you have met with an Employment Facilitator, you can register into as many workshops or courses that fit your job search strategy.

CANSEF’s Youth Employment Services are an excellent starting point for individuals looking for work, but unsure as to how to go about finding the right job. For youth interested in starting a career, or those simply looking for part-time or summer employment, a broad range of services and supports are available.
